I Spent $200 on Christmas Cookies — And Learned More Than Just Baking

TheCreatorJosh

Christmas is supposed to be magical — lights, music, family, and of course… cookies for Santa. 🍪
But what happens when you’re terrible at baking, exhausted from work, and still decide to spend $200 on ingredients just to make “random cookies”?

Well… you get chaos, comedy, and a whole lot of real-life lessons.

That’s exactly what happened in my latest YouTube video.

🍪 The $200 Cookie Experiment

With Christmas just weeks away, I decided to go all in.

No recipe.
No real plan.
Just mountains of ingredients.

From peanut butter and cocoa powder to peppermint marshmallows and Oreos, my kitchen turned into a baking supply store overnight. I convinced myself that “winging it” was the best strategy.

Spoiler alert:
It wasn’t.

But sometimes, the worst plans make the best stories.

😅 When Baking Goes Wrong (Again)

If you’ve watched my channel before, you already know:
I’m not a chef. I’m not a baker. I’m just someone who tries.

And once again, things went sideways.

  • Dough wouldn’t clump
  • Ingredients were missing
  • Everything was dumped in at once
  • Nothing looked right

Still, I pushed through. Because at this point, I had already spent $200… there was no turning back.

🕒 Hours Later… Total Destruction

After hours of nonstop baking, my kitchen looked like a disaster zone.

Pans everywhere.
Bowls stacked up.
Counters covered in flour.

But somehow, cookies kept coming.

Different flavors. Different styles. No idea what half of them even were.

All I knew was: I was tired… and still not done.

🚛 2:41 AM — Truck Driver Reality Hits

Later that night, reality kicked in.

At 2:41 AM, I was back on the road — driving through a snowstorm for work.

Exhausted.
Sleep-deprived.
Mentally drained.

Trying to balance being a truck driver and a YouTuber in December isn’t easy. And that night, it really showed.

This video wasn’t just about cookies anymore.
It became about juggling real life with creative dreams.

🎄 Chicago Christmas Adventures

To bring back the holiday spirit, I took a break and headed to Chicago’s Christkindlmarket at Wrigley Field.

We tried:

  • Eggnog (never again 😭)
  • Gingerbread
  • Hot chocolate
  • Cheese (way too expensive)
  • Christmas drinks

Between laughs, reactions, and food reviews, it reminded me why I started making videos in the first place — to capture real moments.

⏳ One Week Later… Back to the Cookies

After sitting in the fridge for over a week, it was finally time to finish the cookies.

Honestly?
I barely remembered what I had made.

Some came out decent.
Some… not so much.

But seeing them all laid out made one thing clear:

I made way too many.

💬 Real Talk: Burnout & Spiraling

Toward the end of the video, I opened up.

About:

  • Burnout
  • Feeling stuck
  • Losing motivation
  • Struggling mentally
  • Trying to “get it together” and failing

It’s not easy to talk about those things online. But being honest matters.

Life isn’t always a highlight reel.

Sometimes, it’s messy.
Sometimes, you spiral.
Sometimes, you feel lost.

And that’s okay.

This video wasn’t just about baking — it was about being human.

🏆 Best Cookie Reveal

After testing everything, one winner stood out:

🥇 The classic chocolate chip cookie.

Simple. Reliable. undefeated.

And surprisingly, the monster cookie was a close second.

Not bad for a guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing.

❤️ Final Thoughts

This journey taught me something important:

You don’t have to be perfect to create something meaningful.

You just have to show up.
Try.
Fail.
Try again.

Whether it’s baking, YouTube, work, or life — progress isn’t always pretty.

And that’s the beauty of it.

Thank you for watching, supporting, and growing with me.
